On April 15, 2025, at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, a ceremony was held to honor 50 outstanding enterprises and units with key brands and products of Ho Chi Minh City. The event aimed to acknowledge and express gratitude for the significant contributions of the business community to the city's development. The Saigon Petroleum Company – Petrolimex Saigon – was honored by Ho Chi Minh City during this momentous occasion.
Petrolimex Saigon was established on September 17, 1975 – the year Ho Chi Minh City was liberated. Over 50 years of management, operation, and growth, Petrolimex Saigon has become a key enterprise closely linked to the formation and development of the city. Notably, in challenging periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the fuel shortage in early 2022, Petrolimex Saigon affirmed its role in ensuring energy supply and security for the city.
Together with the business community, Petrolimex Saigon contributed over VND 461 trillion in revenue and paid more than VND 10.5 trillion to the city’s budget. The company has also consistently participated in and contributed to the city's social welfare activities. Currently, the city’s business sector contributes more than 50% of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), 67% of the total social investment capital, and 25% of total import-export turnover.
Speaking at the commendation ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc said the city was very pleased and proud to meet and honor the 50 exemplary enterprises and units of Ho Chi Minh City. The award not only serves as a well-deserved recognition for businesses that have continuously innovated, created value, and contributed to the city’s prosperity but also as motivation to foster entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and to promote the city’s core brand values and key products both domestically and internationally.
Reflecting on the 50-year journey, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City shared that this path has been filled with indescribable emotions but is ultimately a journey of growth and resilience. It marks the tireless efforts of the Party, government, and people of the city — from overcoming post-liberation economic hardships to leading innovation and economic reform, transitioning through industrialization and modernization, and evolving toward in-depth economic development. These efforts have contributed to building the city into a leading hub for economy, finance, trade, and culture in the southern key economic region and the country as a whole, serving as a vital gateway connecting to the region and the world.
Mr. Duoc expressed hope that enterprises will continue to accompany the city in “innovative actions,” pioneering “green transformation” and “digital transformation,” while also proposing ideas and contributing efforts to propel Ho Chi Minh City’s strong development in the era of Vietnam’s national resurgence.
It is known that the selection of these 50 exemplary enterprises was based on groups of criteria including: business performance and communication, innovation, and ESG (Environmental – Social – Governance) factors, as determined by the selection committee and favored by consumers.
